Navigating through the higher education maze
“I really value coming to the UEA Teachers’ Conference, it’s the one CPD event that I attend each year that I always take something away from that helps me advise my students.” – 2015 Delegate
Every year the University of East Anglia hosts a unique Teachers and Advisers’ Conference. As a Top 20 institution, their mission is to bring together switched-on education professionals working with Sixth Form students to network, collaborate and grow their professional knowledge. And guess what? It’s all offered at no cost.
Help maximise your students’ potential at university
The conference will run from Thursday 9 June – Friday 10 June 2016 at UEA’s campus in Norwich.
Programme highlights for this year’s conference include:
- Presentation on the current admissions environment delivered by Mary Curnock Cook OBE, Chief Executive of UCAS
- Talk by UEA Professor Colin Cooper on the impact of the ‘genome revolution’ on research, health and society
- Q&A session with Mary Curnock Cook plus a panel of our Admissions experts
Breakout sessions available at the conference this year include:
- What’s changed with student finance?
- How to write a UCAS reference
- Advising students apply for subjects such as Law and Health Professions
- Preparing students for the HE learning environment
- Empowering creativity
“I visit many universities and I cannot think of many that have so many academics who are so personable and keen to explore the views of the delegates.” – 2015 Delegate
Over the two days, the conference offers the opportunity to chat informally with the speakers and presenters as well as a number of UEA academics, Higher Education Advisers, Admissions staff and current students.
The conference is a brilliant opportunity to lift yourself out of the familiarity of the everyday school environment, and immerse yourself straight into an inspiring atmosphere with colleagues and education professionals.
Balance work and play
“A stimulating and enjoyable conference” – 2015 Delegate
It’s not all work. On the Thursday afternoon, conference delegates are offered a number of optional activities, including the ever-popular open-top bus tour of the beautiful, medieval city of Norwich. There’s also a tour of UEA’s award-winning Brutalist campus architecture.

In the evening there will be welcome drinks followed by dinner in the Modern Life Café at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts – an excellent opportunity to network with fellow conference delegates and UEA academic staff.
For the Thursday evening, delegates will be offered free overnight, on-campus accommodation at UEA’s Broadview Lodge.
Not your average CPD conference
The Teachers and Advisers’ Conference is a download of everything a teacher needs to know and should be thinking about in helping guide their students toward university – but rarely can find time to research. Give yourself that deserved time: Registration is now open.
